✨ What Is BI-Plasma 3D Metal Base?

BI-Plasma 3D Metal Base is a ready mixed acylic plaster base coat that is mixed with a coloured metal powder of your choice. It’s designed to be applied in 1 or 2 coats by itself to create a smooth finish or over coarse marmorino. Bi plasma 3D ensures strong adhesion, uniform coverage, and a rich metal tone.

Its fine metallic particles and smooth formulation make it ideal for achieving modern 3D metal reflective effects that shift beautifully with changing light.

Surface Preparation

Before applying the Liquid Metal, ensure the surface is properly primed with two coats of Intermedial Primer. This step helps create a stable base and enhances adhesion. Allow the primer to dry fully before proceeding.

Applying the Metal Coating

The Liquid Metal is applied using a trowel and can be built up in 1 to 3 coats, depending on the desired finish and the type of metal being used. For additional creative effects, you can:

  • Combine the Liquid Metal with say a Black Bi Plasma 3D to create a bespoke mix of black and metallic shades, a trend that continues to gain distinguished appeal.
  • Layer it over a coarse or medium marmorino finishes like Volare or Infinito to create texture and depth.

Two-Coat System Application

  1. First Coat – Apply the first coat evenly and allow it to dry for 1-2 hours. If you have mixed the product, store it in an airtight container to prevent drying out.
  2. Second Coat – Once the first coat is dry, apply the second coat and leave it to cure overnight (approximately 24 hours, depending on temperature and humidity).

Sanding & Polishing

Once fully cured, the surface must be sanded to achieve the desired metallic sheen. Follow this sanding sequence for a polished effect:

  • Use sanding pads in this order: 400, 800, 1000, 2000 grit (ensure you use paper pads with a backing pad attached).
  • For a mirror-like finish, remove the backing pad and continue sanding with 3000 & 6000 Trizact discs.

Sealing & Protection

  • If applying a wax sealer, you can proceed after the final sanding step.
  • If using Microvetro BI as a protective sealer, stop sanding at 1000 grit to ensure proper adhesion.
